Block Party – Fall 15′ Influences

I don’t think a “trend” could be any clearer for Fall 2015. Color blocking has never been so prominent in the fall collections this time around and the combinations are very on point!

The 60’s has taken a stronger seat in in the house now since all that 70’s we have seen all over spring. But this time it is very colorful!¬†Not just the typical “fall jewel tones” that we usually see for the holiday seasons but actual candy rainbow blocks on sophisticated silhouettes.

I Personally tend to avoid this block party (not an actual one ūüėČ because it can go so wrong if you don’t get it right! However now that almost every designer will be launching this trend this fall it should be impossible to fail at it.
Furthermore, here are some of our favorites so far!

Louis Vuitton Cruise Collection 2016

Nicolas Ghesqui√®re’s latest LV collection is nothing short of an art show, watching the models float along the runway lining the pool of the gorgeous John Lautner¬†Palm Springs mansion. Ghesqui√®re had apparently laid eyes on the location 15 years ago coming up the driveway at¬†magic hour. A first impression that last.

“The paradox of the brutalism of the architecture and the refinement of the interior was quite inspiring to me, I love the idea of sweet and hard at the same time.” –¬†Nicholas Ghesqui√®re

Naturally, this shines through in the clothes that compliment the building in a sweet and hard way showing classic sweeping shapes and feminine patterns with strong contrasting details in leather, sturdy metal finished off with futuristic sneakers, desert boots and sandal flats. Waist short leather jackets, flowy pants and blousy crop tops.

Colors take inspiration from the surrounding nature with warm desert beige tones, cold night¬†silky black, suede blue, evergreen moss tones, rattlesnake patent patterns, perforated leather in short shorts and¬†maxi gowns and rusty hues paired with shiny silks that reflect the stunning¬†sunset. Patterns reflect the Palm Springs ever present 50’s as well as a native american vibe¬†in everything from sequins to quilted puffer jackets.

NG’s work for LV is starting to form a little signature style with the¬†recurring¬†zippers from his first collection and the suede colorblocking. But¬†the experimental designer never fails¬†to bring the next level of contrast and innovation showing futuristic¬†jacket shapes and fabrics with romantic, classic movement and femininity. Happy to say this is a stunning and inspirational collection.

To apply this style to your everyday life, dig out your leather pants (should not be deep in the closet), find a patterned blouse (probably cotton blend) with a feminine collar or sleeve and add a statement¬†leather belt. Maybe you have invested in one of those lovely suede jackets this season? Pair that with lightweight, wide leg pants or a maxi skirt and you’ll be right and ready for the weekend. We’ll definitely give it a go!

With love from Cali, RE x

Strong Floral Game at CARVEN

Image

Florals for spring? Groundbreaking¬†¬†, a must! Let’s face it, there is no way to avoid it, and at the end of the day, the first thing we see when we are shopping is color, so happy multi-colored prints might just appeal to us really well!
Fortunately, spring is coming and we are looking at three things, what we have seen on the runway, whats on the streets and what is available in our beloved magazines.
I personally look mostly to the future and whats next (as always) but one thing that really made me stop and look were the oriental floral prints that we saw at some of our favourite designers this season.
One of them is the super strong Carven¬†who are (if you don’t know already killing it right now.) French of course, but very innovative and forward.¬†Some just do it ahead of time, and they are definitely one to watch for the next step in design!
“Fast, speed, vertical and linear” were the key words to describe the SS15 collection with strong Japanese influences, boxy structured handbags, sporty waves of color dashes on dresses and snake print blocks on A-line shapes.

Inspo of the week – NYC

Image

After a long time on traveling foot, it is finally time to go through all the material we assembled during our time away!
Our time during NYFW was super hectic and inspirational and we wanted to channel our favourite looks in our own way within the short of space of time we had.
Living on the east coast¬†during this time made me realize how much I layered and how many styles I was mixing! Rick Owens sweatpants went with Stan Smiths and a huge tent-sized wool coat. Cashmere sweaters on top of other cashmere sweaters paired with ponchos and suede trousers, and these were our “safe” options! Obviously the cold weather conditions had a great impact on our outfit choices but I have to say that I really miss the ways of dressing already!Screen Shot 2015-03-06 at 23.18.43

NYFW –> L.A. RECAP!

Image

First and foremost, now that we are back in LA and we and going through all of our fashion week coverage we had to take some time to reflect over what we saw and establish some of the trends for Fall 2015.
We have made our own interpretation through our own outfits where we are channeling a few different looks based on what we found in the best of the best vintage that New York had to offer along with a few contemporary brands and some high-end ones, which you will see later on this week.
As you might know now, re-inventing is our forte and this trip also brought an amazing amount of inspiration to us as and knowledge about the growing consignment market on the east coast.
But first let’s start with our favourites from the runways, and what our fellow blogger friends wore in the sunny but freezing New York!
