RE Photo Inspo of the week!

Image

Landed and settled back in New York for fashion week we let ourselves look for
different influences this time around. I have always been a great fan of Nick Knight and his art. Recently he released a photo selection with a variety of designers participating in a
shoot for V magazine.
While we work on our reports I wanted to share some of my favourite shots from the shoot here in at Milk studios in LA.148453_960n 148455_960n 148446_960n 148448_960n 148447_960n 148443_960n 148442_960n 148450_960n 148454_960n 148451_960n

Louis Vuitton Cruise Collection 2016

Image

Nicolas Ghesquière’s latest LV collection is nothing short of an art show, watching the models float along the runway lining the pool of the gorgeous John Lautner Palm Springs mansion. Ghesquière had apparently laid eyes on the location 15 years ago coming up the driveway at magic hour. A first impression that last.

“The paradox of the brutalism of the architecture and the refinement of the interior was quite inspiring to me, I love the idea of sweet and hard at the same time.” – Nicholas Ghesquière

Naturally, this shines through in the clothes that compliment the building in a sweet and hard way showing classic sweeping shapes and feminine patterns with strong contrasting details in leather, sturdy metal finished off with futuristic sneakers, desert boots and sandal flats. Waist short leather jackets, flowy pants and blousy crop tops.

Colors take inspiration from the surrounding nature with warm desert beige tones, cold night silky black, suede blue, evergreen moss tones, rattlesnake patent patterns, perforated leather in short shorts and maxi gowns and rusty hues paired with shiny silks that reflect the stunning sunset. Patterns reflect the Palm Springs ever present 50’s as well as a native american vibe in everything from sequins to quilted puffer jackets.

NG’s work for LV is starting to form a little signature style with the recurring zippers from his first collection and the suede colorblocking. But the experimental designer never fails to bring the next level of contrast and innovation showing futuristic jacket shapes and fabrics with romantic, classic movement and femininity. Happy to say this is a stunning and inspirational collection.

To apply this style to your everyday life, dig out your leather pants (should not be deep in the closet), find a patterned blouse (probably cotton blend) with a feminine collar or sleeve and add a statement leather belt. Maybe you have invested in one of those lovely suede jackets this season? Pair that with lightweight, wide leg pants or a maxi skirt and you’ll be right and ready for the weekend. We’ll definitely give it a go!

With love from Cali, RE x

Runway to Everyday Life – SS15

Image

Even though we see all of these beautiful examples and inspiring pictures of models walking down the runway as we flip through the magazines and click from picture to picture in blogs there’s rarely any connection to how this actually translates into every day life. Where can these trends be bought? And for a reasonable price? You’ve seen us do many examples of inspirational pieces in our runway to street posts, but they have mostly been there to trigger some ideas for you guys.

This week we’ve browsed through the high street brands to see what they offer for us that is actually affordable and good investment pieces without completely ruining our budget.

One of this springs most exciting trends is the fabric suede. You’ll see it in all walks of fashion from our favourite vintage shops through Topshop (below) to the Ralph Lauren runway. A vintage coat or a skirt is a great buy for spring 2015.

A bright or classic coloured jersey dress is also something you can easily dust off either from your own closet, or invest in a new one for less than $50.

Strong accent colours like the cobalt blue and the super hot pink works really well on accessories like clutches, nail varnish and shoes. These trends have a tendency to come back with just a few years in between.

My two favourite buys this season though will probably be a pair of dressy pants in a  jersey blend in one of the new exciting base colours (such as the pair below) and a classic deep marine blue shirt as it is such a classic already. A true reload evolve piece. RE xRE 2 Yellow Pants In ProgressScreen Shot 2015-02-05 at 19.47.49

WEEKLY STYLE SPY – ANA BEATRIZ BARROS

Image

This weeks style inspiration is Brazilian long time, super model Ana Beatriz Barros who at the age of 32 has grazed more than 200 magazine covers in her career. Her style is edgy and wearable, often with a twist of leather. Anna know’s how to wear the latest colours and bring life to vintage pieces that keep coming back.

In the picture below, wearing oxblood leather trousers with one of this seasons most wearable colours from the mens collections – ink blue – gives that extra edge we just mentioned. A pair of good quality leather trousers is also something we would like to give a little extra nudge to as a serious staple in the Reload Evolve closet. Unlike any other pant staple they really elevate a simple knit or shirt, and with the switch of a flat shoe to a heel move you straight form office to evening. That and a pair of sunnies on a Sunday or a statement necklace for a Friday after work is Reload Evolve forever. RE x
