Fall has finally come to Los Angeles, and we’re super excited to see it! Temperatures are falling and we can put our jean cut-offs to rest in the back of our closets. Its time to bring out the trusted wool blends, full lengths, knits and booties. This surprisingly often also means blacks, browns, blues and camels as fall and winter pieces are more on the expensive side and who would spend $500 on a bright pink cashmere knit? Luckily we’re here to help you blend up that darkness with one of our favourite colours for fall / winter 2014. Red. In classic burgundy or new and interesting cranberry. It never fails. Every so classy paired with all kinds of transition pieces like a sheer skirt or Mary Jane flats, floral t-shirts and prints. And when the real cold rolls in, it goes beautifully with classic knits you already have in grey, black and camel. To spice it up, pair successfully with all kinds of circus like patterns, metallics and especially black & white stripes. Its so interesting and ever evolving that we’re considering letting it become one of the new staples in our closet. Who doesn’t like red? Its the colour of love, and it is here to stay. Just as we like it at RE.

If you live in a desert climate like we do here in LA you might be really happy to hear that some runway trends from Spring Summer 2015 already showed up in the Fall Winter 2014 collections. Happy days! Lets take a look at what we an rip off of the ready-to-wear fall designs from Helmut Lang, Chloé and Hermés. Masculine shapes, suits already popping up here, all white of course, wide double breasted jackets and flowy romantic pants with and without folds. This isnt as hard to replicate as you might think. Most high street stores have surprisingly nice white suit jackets on offer and an over size mens tee goes a long way. Spend your money on a quality pair of oxblood brogues with a solid rubber sole and a black envelope clutch and dig out those white ripped boyfriend jeans. Its time to reload and evolve!

MARC BY MARC JACOBS
In May 2013 it was announced that British designer Luella Bartley (Luella) was going to make her long awaited return to the fashion scene as head of women’s ready-to-wear collection for Marc By Marc Jacobs along with Katie Hillier (Norton & Sons of Savile Row). The dream team went on to show their first collection on the runway for Fall/Winter 2014 which was “bursting with confidence” according to UK Vogue. The looks seemed inspired by motor sports, traditionally manly pieces combined with utterly female classics like flowy 50s skirts, penn skirts and big bows in contrasting colors like bright red on red and black on faded grey. Flats and wedges mixed with staples such as black stockings and white turtle necks cleverly styled with an emphasis on hips and waits. We’ve taken our 4 favourite looks for fall and brought them to life street style below. Imagine all of them with at least one side of those black stockings and a big scarf tied like a bow around your neck. Key colors: Powder Pink, Light Grey, Asphalt Black, Bright Red.
